The Middle Ages was a time when art was heavily influenced by the Catholic religion.  Because of this, ecclesiastical jewelry gained strength and both men and women wore crucifixes, reliquaries and scapulars.

It was there that a professional category gained strength: the goldsmiths, who began to display their talent in making these items and became the target of admiration and appreciation. The bourgeoisie also started to use rings with monograms, which served as a kind of signature, symbolizing their noble origin.

Pearls, rubies and other gems were also used by the wealthy classes and became a symbol of the aristocracy.

Jewels are part of the history of humanity and it is no wonder that they are very dear and objects of desire even today: they add elegance and class, in addition to being very good for the eyes!
